24 years

All,

At just about this time, 24 years ago, we were landing in Iowa, with 11 bags, 8000 bucks, an Atari box, my pillow, and three toys we bought in Miami the day before. The real anniversary was yesterday, when Nan, JB, and Nati first stared at a box of Chicken McNuggets and said 'nomegusta! and then stared at a TVset and were severely disappointed because everything was in english, and we realized that for a few more months, life was going to be tough for all...
At that time, Alex and Dawn were probably deeply concerned about something related to their toys and what was for dinner that night, Guillaume was learning to walk, and Carla and Russell were tiny amounts of DNA.Major players in our family (Evita, Danger!, Bailey) were still in the drawing board. Not to mention Mr. Bozzolo, which will be around next year to celebrate the 1st quarter century of the bouzzoulous.
I was grieving the breakup of the Beatles and, like many eternal things, still am.
We should make this a Bozzolo Holiday from now on. We should also buy a condo at the beach in Delaware to celebrate this for decades to come.
Love
DAD

I thought we arrived on June 3. It was June 4? I've been kidding myself all these years.

I agree. It should be a holiday. Next year when we're all in the same place (except for Carla and Russell, so you'll have to come down), we should celebrate. Maybe in that condo at the beach. It's hilarious how you slipped that in there, just like you slip it into nearly all paragraphs that you speak these days. hahaha.

love,

I checked the multiyear calendar just to make sure that my long term memory wasn't failing me, and the deal is: we left on thursday, June 3, arrived in Miami on friday June 4, and flew to Iowa on saturday June 5.. So take your pick, any of those days is valid. Why don't we make it a Thanksgiving-like holiday, 3 days long? More time to enjoy the condo!

As usual, Dad's _expression ability is magnificent! (as well as funny). If you ask me, the topic is certainly a blog item. Don't you think?

Of course I remember that day, also remember our arrival to our very first house that we rented for just the summer. The house was not to impressed anybody but it had a great kitchen and a weird smell. My/our very first trip to the grocery store was at the Hi-Vee to buy steaks. Go figure!

Anyway, a long weekend celebration at our "beach chateau" sounds like an outstanding idea! The problem is that we need to get the house first, hmmmmm...

Who I am to compete with Dad's memory?

I misspelled "châteaux". Sorry Guillaume. Oops!

I remember it like it was yesterday...

And of course we would wait 24 years to make this day a holiday... it's classic 'Bozzolo-style.' I agree w/ dad, a 3-day annual holiday at the beach. Let's do it! Who knows, we'll be sitting at our beautiful condo basking in the sun, celebrating this holiday.. 24 years from today.

Mom/Dad- coming to the States was one of the best decisions you ever made.. that, and upgrading to the Nintendo, of course. Thanks.

What the hell is Hi-Vee? It sounds familiar. Was it a grocery store?

I'll start saving for that condo... should be a piece
of cake on my $7.50 an hour job, no worries every one!
You can count on me!

I'm out of my mind.. I hate finals week

Maybe we'll have the condo by next summer and it will
officially be the silver anniversary, so we can have a
silver themed party... hot shit

Okay, i'm going to go take some anti-psychotics now...
at least i still sound more intelligent than Bush

Actually, I bought the steaks, and it's even today that I think they were pork chops. The tasted oinky.

Glad to see that my subliminal messages are finally catching on. When you close your eyes, don't you see like flashes of the chateaux?

All,
Right at this time, we were sitting down to eat to pork chops, a.k.a.Iowa cow steaks.
Nanu, yes, HiVee was one of the grocery stores. The one close to the uphill road leading to the day care, where I would make all three of you blow hard from the back seat against the windshield so that the car would go uphill (good thing that you didn't know physics back then...).
Munina, just keep your hopes up. It took us 24 years to agree on the beach condo, but it won't take another 24 to actually get it. I don't care if it is a 100sqft tent 10 miles from the beach, but we;ll have it. And yes, it was a great decision to come here. If we hadn't, you'd be watching the World Cup games next week with ONE more hour difference with Germany. So not fashion.
Carla: 7.50 an hour is a FORTUNE. I just did the numbers, and the first year here we made 0.36 an hour, which adjusted for inflation is still less than 1 dollar. And we fed you all, and bought the house...What it is to be young. And not too hungry.
JB, being that you were the first one to pick up on my relentless campaign to get the condo, I think you should take the lead and get us one. Thanks.
Mom, Guillaume is in Europe and chateaux in findlandish is chateau, so it's ok.

LOVE you all

OK. Yes, we have a blog, and now it looks as if I wrote all the posts and I'm talking to myself.

This post seemed so incomplete without a picture, so I took the liberty of creating one appropriate for dad's real intentions with this post.

Don't be fooled by the poor quality of the copying/pasting done, this picture actually took much longer to do than it looks. BUT I still managed to get everything to scale, especially Nan's head.

And Guillaume, you're wearing a hat because otherwise the picture would have revealed that your head is actually flat on top, you're welcome for fixing that aspect.

Now this post is complete!

Thanks for the big head and devil-ish face. I think that picture reflects my person more than any other. It's so sad that everyone else looks so good...

Carla said...

I would have made you look good too nan, but while going through my pictures of the family, there were too many good ones of you that weren't so good, I couldn't resist...

JB said...

You got skillz, Carla.

I love that picture of Nan. Too bad the whole body wouldn't fit in there.
