Make sure your volume is on!

I realized in an email from Noel that the Argentine Bozzolos may not be fully aware of what happened with Julian over the holidays. I'm sorry!!! I should have sent everyone an email to keep you informed. Bottom line is that it appears he's just fine after having some trouble with an ear infection that got out of control. In fact, today is the last day of his home treatment.

He was admitted to the hospital because of a complication that developed from a very resistant ear infection--it caused swelling behind his ear (his mastoid) that required intensive antibiotic treatment (almost required surgery). The bacteria that caused the infection could only be treated by intravenous therapy, which required hospitalization (from 12/26-1/2), and home IV treatment with a nurse. During his hospitalization, he had ear tubes inserted in his ear drums to prevent further infections and also had a temporary catheter inserted to administer the antibiotics at home. It looks like the treatment worked, and he is definitely back to normal. There was no hearing loss and the swelling behind his ear is gone. So all is well! We're keeping a watchful eye to be sure we see no signs of the ear infection recurring. He's been off antibiotics for 4 days now, so it looks like we're in totally in the clear.

Enjoy the clips!

Home from the Hospital

I want to announce that Julian is finally home from the hospital. He's having a blast being home, though he's still a bit nervous about people messing with him too much, especially when he's lying down and people are standing around him. It'll take a day or two for him to forget about the stress of the last week. But, he's smiling and playing like normal. He'll be on IV antibiotics for the next 10 days or so and will be re-examined to see if a longer duration is needed.

I uploaded some new pictures to my flickr account and I'll email a video or two soon.
