Ade's Paintings on the Web

I finally finished Ade's website. All of her paintings are available for viewing at www.adelabozzolo.com.

The gallery contains thumbnails of each painting with an option to view enlargements. The composite image shows all paintings on one page with an option to view enlargements.

You'll notice that the biography page is under construction. I'm among the least qualified to construct this page, so I'll leave the option open to someone else to write. I received some information from some of you, but I'll wait to finish the page so anyone who would like to contribute their version has a chance to do so. If that's you, send me something in an email and I'll integrate it with what I have so far.

I wanted to get this finished before my dad's birthday (happy birthday, dad), so although the page may not be perfect, I got it to a place where it's functional. But if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, please email them to me or post them here. I'm happy to alter the page in a way that pleases everyone.

Let me just say it was a real pleasure to work on this project, and thanks to Juan for writing the intro, Carl and JB for their web design input, and Juan, Xime and Dawn for their help taking the photos.

Enjoy!

Great job Nan!!! We all know that this is just a very small part of the recognition she deserves, not only for her paitings...
It`s great to surf the site and "just know" what`s it all about. Don`t we all feel the same?
I take it as a personal challenge to find that art book with the bio. There`s got to be one of those somewhere. Maybe I`ll take it with me to DC.
Again, great job, no one could`ve done it better.

I"m speechless. Truly. Overwhelmed. First, the obvious: this is the best gift ever, for everybody that knew her. I cried like a baby (just like 52 years ago...)and wished that somehow she knew you were doing this. One thing I know for sure, because she told me so, is that she knew very well how much you all loved her, and I know that that is what kept her going for so long, doing always her best for all.
And now that you have 'Ade' etched in your memory forever, maybe you all understand my Nona-ism...Ade didn't grow alone, there was an amazing woman shaping her and giving her all the freedom in the world to be whoever she wanted to be. She didn't leave much to be remembered by, just Ade!, but trust me, she's also right up there as one of those people you look up to, no matter what.

And here's a little thing that probably none of you knew: when Ade was young, a kid, she started painting and drawing, then she stopped and took it up again 50 years later...But there's ONE picture she made that probably you guys never saw. Nona had it framed, very nicely, and it was the ONLY picture she always had in the places where she lived. It was PERFECTION. I remember looking at that drawing in awe, day in and day out, thinking that the mother I knew had that hidden talent that was dormant for decades. I remember showing it to my friends in college with pride, it was simply amazing. Where IS IT??? I have no idea what happened to that picture, I lost track of it when we left the country and never saw it again. Juan: here's some treasure hunt for you to do. That picture MUST be somewhere at la quinta, in the garage, maybe. I don't know. It must be there. Please, look it up. I promise you all that once you see it, the whole gallery will make a lot more sense to all of you.

Well...again...I know I speak for Koke and Yago when I say THANK YOU to all of you. You honored her beyond any words that I could say.

Love to all,

Guille

Dad,

Is the painting you speak of this one?

http://www.adelabozzolo.com/images/large/n47.htm

This painting had an unusually early date written on the back of it.

No, it isn't...I was talking to Koke last night, and he couldn't remember it well. He remembered one that I had forgotten about. I'm sure Yago does, as it was in front of us for years, right above the TV in Nona's apartment. It's a big picture, black and white, maybe pencil. The scene is a woman in what seems an attic, showing the inside of the room. Nona had it framed very prominently, it was her pride and joy. I never saw it again once we left the country.

Nan..did I say enough times what an amazing job you did with this site?

Love
DAD

You sure did! The credit is really in the beauty of the paintings; the site is just window dressing. I'll humbly acknowledge your compliments again though.

I don't know what else to say about the missing painting. I hope we find it one day.

There will still be two more paintings added to the site: one from Noel's house and one from Natalia's.

Right, there is one of the paintings in my house that´s missing, and I think there is another one at Zulita´s, I´ll check and send de picture.

Yes, Nan, GREAT window dressing. Very classy.

Also, I'm really impressed how so many paintings that were (are) spread out all over the place have been brought together again. Good job everybody!

Noel,

I have the final painting from your house. I just need the one at Zulita's. With those two and the one at Natalia's, then there are three to be added, which is good because I presented them in threes.

Also, if Juan finds the book with the bio, then I can add that too. If not, maybe you guys can get together and write up a short biography. Then I can blend it with what I have from my dad.

Thanks,

Nan

I just wanted to add that:
1. The web page is beautiful. I already sent the link to my family too so they can appreciate it.
2. Although you all have done a great job at collecting most of Ade's art pieces, there are still more out there. At a minimum, I just remembered that there is one in our house that she painted when we were in Ames. It is a road with a line of trees on either side. Lots of green. We should send the picture too. So, who knows how many more will continue to appear with time.

Overall, the site came out great Nan. The paintings photographed very well, the composite is another piece of art in itself, and everything looks very tasteful and professional.

She would have loved it!

I forgot to add that the 3 kids that are in the painting of the 3rd page are Nan, JB & Nati.

We were talking about this last night during dinner. I now remember that Ade told me she had done it! So that mystery is solved. It's you guys.
Nan, can't you recognize yourself with your hands in your your pockets?

Carla said...

i knew that painting of the road with the trees was Ade's! I asked Nan about it, but he wasn't sure... where is that painting now? I remember it hanging on the wall next to where dad used to take his naps.

The Decider said...

Yes, I recognized that painting of us immediately.

I just remembered she painted a very small one of me playing soccer with an Estudiantes jersey that I'll add to the site.

Between that one, Noel's, Zulita's, the other one at your house from Ames and the missing one dad mentioned, there are still about 4 or 5 to add.

Actually, I found out that there are quite a few more paintings in the garage. Most of them are very deteriorated, but I still have to move stuff around to see what comes up. Nan, Why didn´t we do this while you guys were here?

Carla said...

There is a small one she painted of some flowers while i was in 3rd grade i think, it's somewhere at home... i'll have to look for it.

Actually, now that I think about it, I have two more that she painted: one of a giant tree and one of a skyscraper-like building. Those must be in my storage boxes at mom and dad's. Once I finally unpack those, I'll send photos.
Man, she must have been painting non-stop.
