Hi Everybody,So here it is. For those of you that haven't seen it yet, here's the follow-up to 603Beech.
Sunday brunch, Oct. 2, 11:48 AM, all invited. There's a BIG change though: the jar of Tang in the previous post is now MIA. I forgot to clean up the fridge at 603 when I left, so the new owners are wondering what is that gluey sugary stuff in the fridge. We have a new jar now, so don't worry, life continues to be good.

Nan, you're freaking hilarious... Dad's car has to be on that side because the garage is bigger on that side and Big Ass won't fit on the right side. So, along with the new home comes new traditions. It's just the way it goes. And I second the Tang Dispenser idea.
Brunch on Sunday? What happened to the housewarming on Friday the 30th? Is that not happening?
Nan and Dawn, you'll be staying in a very nice room. Lucky you.
Dad, check it out: www.everythingofficefurniture.com
love,
jb
I'm going to just go ahead and claim the room as my own.
JB: We (including Carla and Dawn) won't arrive until after midnight on Friday. Carl and Julia also won't arrive until later in the evening. For this reason, the housewarming party was moved, though you should, obviously, feel free to also get together on Friday without us. We'll be sticking around until Sunday evening. Carla has to be back for class by Monday morning. In any case, we will all be around Sunday afternoon to enjoy the house.
Does that mean that the room mom & co. have been working on as mine is now Nan's?
OK guys! I'm back, although not fully unpacked, I/we have made a lot of progress in that arena.
Yeah, the house has that undeniable colonial look but inside I think it's more in the "transitional" style or to put it simple: "in the 603 Beech St. style". After all, who are we kidding?! We have the same stuff!!!
Yeah, with the change of address many other changes come along. One being the garage arrangement. Big ass is jut too dam BIG and there is no way that it would fit in the new garage. That's OK, we'll adjust and will try to make other changes happen to compensate and avoid the unbalancing of the universe that has Nan concerned.
Another big difference that you'll notice is that our available yard space is much smaller though. Oh well...less grass to mow.
Sunday brunch sounds great. I’ll be cooking pies since Friday night anyway.
Should I be signing this as
Nora Graciela Rodriguez Bozzolo Thompson? So International!!!!!
Woops. My bad.
Carla is right--the room I was referring to as being really nice is actually hers.
Nan and Dawn, the other room is nice too. Very sunny. Very nice.
You guys could be Mr. and Mrs. Morris. Or, you could use the version of "Morris" that my Spanish professor prefers: "Lionel".
Well...I thought you would have figured this out by now, but the REAL reason why Big Ass is where it is, is because I *always* parked on the west side, all the way since Iowa. I think it does fit inside, but I'm not sure we want to try that...It might be easier to fit the house in the car than the car in the house. Besides, all the neighbors have (wisely) much smaller cars, which makes their houses look bigger. I just like to show off. I'm sure the whole hood is wondering when and how I'll stuff that thing inside.
Mom is right, the house is different but everything inside looks suspiciously the same. We, Thompsons, like tradition and old habits.
See you this weekend!
The ThreadKiller
dad, you're not the threadkiller.. yet. I thought i would post and confirm a few things:
- Carla, you're room is beautiful. It beats the "out-of-place kingsize bed, brown carpet, 150-year old dresser drawer, view of Ms. Beam's living room" bedroom in Oberlin with a more subtle and very sweet style.
-speaking of style.. mom, good point. 603 Beech St. style is unique and takes skill to master (along with several years to collect the furniture- how old are your nighttables?). I mean, how many other houses have you seen that contain "the Wall" of completely out-dated yet adorable pictures. Some might argue that we're in denial of our aging looks by not replacing them with more recent photos, but i just dont agree with that. They are just damn cute pictures. Period.
-Brunch on Sunday. Dad, i may be late though. I have a previous engagement that goes until 11:52am, but i 'll see if i can get out a few minutes early. no promises though...
-Tang dispenser, genius.
-Fact: Dad's car, the Chrysler Concorde, is the longest sedan ever built. (dad, i think you told me that) It didn't earn it's name, "Big Ass" for nothing! What's funny, for some reason, every single time I see dad's car, I'm shocked it's silver. I'm still expecting the original light gold.
-one more thing, Guillaume called from India. He says that he misses you all and really REALLY wishes he could be at the party on Saturday/Brunch on Sunday...and that's not because he's in india and hasn't eaten anything other than peanutbutter and jelly for breakfast and pasta for dinner with the same indian guy coming up to him everyday, thinking he's famous asking for his autograph, but because he loves you guys. JB/Alex, he also said congrats again and he's sorry to be missing yet ANOTHER party. He's throwing you one privately when he gets back... i think.
el fin.
love natalia
Well, if you haven't heard by now, I'm sad to report that Dawn won't be able to attend the weekend's festivities. Work will not permit. Sadly, she must spend her Saturday afternoon at the office.
Still, I insist we should enjoy ourselves (and hope that she finds a way to have an okay weekend).
Unfortunately, I had anticipated her company along with Bailey, so I rented a car for the weekend to comfortably and cheaply fit the three of us and Carla. You won't believe the car I got. I ordered a standard, which at 50% off for the weekend is only 50 bucks for the whole weekend, but they ran out of standards. So, they gave me a luxury vehicle at the same rate--a classic, senior citizen, Frank Sinatra style Cadillac DeVille. Yes, that's right. I'm going to show up in a town car that is bigger than Dad's big ass. And it's standard rent-white. Why are rentals always white?
Dawn, we're still hoping you can make it, one way or another. Worse comes to worse, I think it will go live on CSpan2, so stay tuned.
There's no room in Maryland for two big cars. Does it come with its own gas station built in?
Donnatella and Bailey will be sorely missed.
Dad
